Murder in disguise. Why abortion is wrong.

[21] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: Matthew 5

Abortion, which is sad to say, has become an accepted practice within today’s society, especially amongst liberals and those who take part in this new extreme feminist movement. However, despite its acceptance, there still remains individuals who are willing to speak out against such an action who risk being labelled as woman haters and anti-choice by those who stand in its full support.

So, lets get right into it. Is abortion a violation of the Lord’s command to not murder? In order to answer this question, we must first understand when life truly starts to begin.

What do the experts say?

When one takes it upon him/herself to read what is actually written in our science books, then they will surely come to the conclusion that life does begin at the moment of conception. It is nothing more or less than a fact that an organism comes into existence after conception, one that did not exist before such an action took place.

At conception, the woman’s egg or oocyte comes into fertilization by the male sperm. Immediately after this process takes place, a new cell is born which is called a zygote or a fertilized egg.

Now, it is the choice of everyone to believe what they want concerning the identity of this newly formed cell. But, since it is a topic which relates to embryology, let us see what scientists and embryologists have to say concerning the nature of the fertilized egg and conception itself.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keith L. Moore,In his textbook, Developing Human: Clinically Oriented Embryology he writes the following:
A zygote [fertilized egg] is the beginning of a new human being. Human development begins at fertilization, the process during which a male gamete … unites with a female gamete or oocyte … to form a single cell called a zygote. This highly specialized, totipotent cell marks the beginning of each of us as a unique individual.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In another one of his published works called: Before We Are Born: Essentials of Embryology he writes:
[The zygote], formed by the union of an oocyte and a sperm, is the beginning of a new human being
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dr J.P Greenhill and E.A Friedman in their work on biology and obstetrics, state that “This zygote thus formed represents the beginning of a new life”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dr E.L Potter writes in the book Pathology of the fetus and the infant that “every time a sperm cell and ovum unite, a new BEING is created WHICH IS ALIVE”.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Human Embryology & Teratology (Ronan R. O’Rahilly, Fabiola Muller [New York: Wiley-Liss, 1996], 5-55):
Fertilization is an important landmark because, under ordinary circumstances, a new, genetically distinct human organism is thereby formed[.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to the experts, life BEGINS at conception and a zygote or fertilized egg is a LIVING BEING.

The features of an unborn child and their development according to scientific studies.

Unborn baby, 7 weeks old.
1) 3 weeks after conception, a heartbeat develops and the brain starts forming.
2) 6 weeks after conception, the baby is capable to hiccup and brainwaves are found.
3) 9 weeks after conception, the baby is capable to suck its thumb and over 1000 parts of this child are formed.
4) 12 weeks after conception, the baby possesses over a billion cells and it develops its taste buds.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 66 percent of legal abortions occur within the first eight weeks (after the baby possesses numbers 1 and 2) and 92 percent are performed within the first 13 weeks.(after the baby possesses numbers 1-4)

If we are viewed as dead when our heart stops beating, then why are we not viewed as being alive when our heart starts beating? (3 weeks after conception)

A fertilized egg has its own human DNA.

One of the arguments brought forth by those who are pro-
choice is that this new organism is still not its own being, but that it is still something that is just part of the mother. They say that it is a potential human being, but not a human being in itself.

According to a popular pro-choice brochure, A Fetus is Not a Baby:

A fetus is not yet a human being. It is nothing but a clump of cells with the potential to become a human being. It is ‘alive,’ but that is also true of all the other cells in a woman’s body. It has no life of its own yet. It is not yet a separate life from the life of the woman in whose uterus it is.

However, when we further examine the evidence, we see that this argument doesn’t really hold any water. This is because the new organism, according to scientific studies, possesses its own DNA different from any other human being on the planet, including its mother and father, with everything from eye color to sex already chosen for him or her. This does not make it part of the mother, but it makes it its own being in and of itself. Seeing as it possesses its own HUMAN DNA, it is beyond controversy that it is indeed a living being.

Furthermore, to say that this is not a human is to go completely against the laws of nature. When 2 humans have sexual relations with one another, what else can come from this other than a human? The offspring of two members of a species is always the same type of creature as the parents. For example, you will never see 2 apes come together to give birth to a frog or vice versa. According to the laws of nature, the organism that is produced at conception CANNOT be anything less or more than a human being.

The no rights argument.

Due to the fact that life begins at conception, many pro-choicers bring forth yet another argument. This one says that although a fetus is a human being, it is not a legal person and therefore does not have similar rights to the ones you and I possess, mainly, the right to life. Now doesn’t this view sound familiar?

Slaves were considered property, not people, and were treated as such. The killing of a slave was almost never regarded as murder, and the rape of slave women was not treated as a form of trespassing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1857 the U.S. Supreme Court decided: ‘A negro of the African race was regarded … as an article of property … a subordinate and inferior class of being.’
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1858, the Virginia Supreme Court decision declared: ‘In the eyes of the law … the slave is not a person.’
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1867, Buckner Payne, Publisher: ‘The Negro is not a human being.’
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sadly, in our world today, many take this similar slave view when it comes to unborn children. Whether the child grows up to be a Hitler or a Malcom X, a Stalin or a hero, everyone is deserving of the right to life. Ignoring one's right to life leads to the follow statistics:

According to abortionNO.org,
Number of abortions per year: approximately 42 million
Number of abortions per day: approximately 115,000

As humanity fought to recognize the humanity of the slaves and the African Americans, let us stand up to bring to recognition the humanity of an unborn child and give them the rights that they so deserve, because unborn children are not potential human beings, but rather human beings with unlimited potential.
